Mills, McCartney divorce talks break down

The divorce talks between Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney have broken down before the estranged pair managed to agree on a settlement.

An eight-hour hearing took place yesterday between the former couple and their lawyers, but a financial agreement was not reached despite lengthy negotiations.

The former Beatle reportedly offered Mills £50 million and a confidentiality document ordering her to not reveal anything about their marriage to the media, but she refused to sign it.

A source told the Evening Standard: "It's finished. There are no more talks planned. The whole thing broke down without agreement. A trial date has been set for February next year and that is where we are heading"
