Live Earth organiser Al Gore has won the Nobel Peace Prize.
The former US vice president and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change triumphed for their efforts to raise public awareness of global warming.
The Nobel committee described Gore as "probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted".
The 59-year-old presented Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth and organised the Live Earth benefit concerts in July.
Accepting the prize in Oslo, he said: "I am deeply honoured to receive [this award]. We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity."
