Katie Holmes to run New York marathon

Katie Holmes has signed up to run at next month's 26-mile New York City marathon, alongside Lance Armstrong and thousands of others for charity.

The Batman Begins star has been spotted training for the event by jogging in Berlin, where her husband Tom Cruise has been filming his new movie Valkyrie.

A friend of Holmes told Star magazine: "Katie is determined to complete the race and make Tom proud.

"She's been training for months, both in Los Angeles and in Berlin. She's as fit and toned as she's ever been in her life. Katie is going to surprise a lot of people."
