Rap star Foxy Brown has been handed 11 weeks in solitary confinement as punishment for her involvement in a fight with a fellow inmate in prison.

Brown reportedly had a brawl with a prisoner, was abusive to guards and refused to take a random drug test, according to New York authorities.

The 28-year-old, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is serving a one-year sentence for violating her probation terms after a fight at a nail salon in New York.

She was jailed after she left the city without permission, missed her anger-management classes, and also failed to turn up to court when she was accused of throwing a phone at her neighbour.

Brown pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

It is thought she will now be placed in isolation for up to 23 hours a day for the next 11 weeks.
