Many WAGS achieved good qualifications in school, it has been revealed.
The government's Learning and Skills Council has reminded young girls that 9 out of the 12 most famous WAGS have five good GCSEs or the equivalent.
Michael Carrick's partner Lisa Roughead topped the list with a business degree, followed by Stewart Downing's girlfriend Michaela Henderson-Thynne, who is studying law. Emma Hadfield (Gary Neville), Charlotte Meares (Jermain Defoe), Melanie Slade (Theo Walcott) and Coleen McLoughlin (Wayne Rooney) also fared well in the survey.
The Council said in a statement: "Rather than idealising WAGS for their glamorous lifestyles, the LSC is encouraging young people to follow their lead by gaining the minimum set of qualifications before leaving learning, whatever they aspire to be."
It pointed out that Victoria Beckham was one of the least-qualified WAGS with only a handful of GCSEs, and warned girls keen to emulate her "success" that they have only a one in 200,000 chance of doing so.
