Rowling shocked by Dumbledore response

JK Rowling has admitted that she is shocked by the response she has had since she revealed her Harry Potter character Albus Dumbledore's homosexuality.

The author announced the truth about the Hogwarts school headmaster during her book tour at New York's Carnegie Hall last week.

Over 3,000 comments were posted on fansite The Leaky Cauldron since the revelation, and Rowling has been surprised by people's reactions.

She said: "It has certainly never been news to me that a brave and brilliant man could love other men.

"He is my character. He is what he is and I have the right to say what I say about him."
