The singer, who says she has been battling depression since she was 16, insists that if it were not for her lover's actions in the summer she may have ended up dead.
She told The Sun: “I really thought I was on the way out. My husband Blake saved my life, brought me into the hospital.
"Often I don’t know what I do. Then the next day the memory returns. Blake told me later what had happened and then I was engulfed in shame.
“Recently I saw a picture of when I came out of the hospital. I didn’t recognise myself."
Talking about her struggle with depression, Winehouse added: “Since [my teenage years] I have taken pills for depression but they slowed me down. I believe there are lots of people who have these mood changes. I just have this great good luck to have found this outlet - my music."
