Paris Hilton's trip to Rwanda has been postponed by the charitable foundation that organised and sponsored the journey.

Playing For Good, a Spanish-based group that helps celebrities get involved with charity work, claimed that it had to reschedule the socialite's journey because of a 'restructuring' in their organisation.

Hilton was jailed earlier this year for a driving under the influence charge, which made her seek to change her party girl image and leave 'a mark on the world'. The Rwanda visit is her first scheduled move to try to help others and clean up her act, although she has previously admitted that she was scared about going there.

A statement released from Playing For Good said: "Paris has been a loyal and gracious supporter of Playing for Good, but the foundation has to regrettably reschedule this trip."

The organisation also revealed hopes to book another trip at "a later date" and it is believed to be planning to film the trip and sell it as a reality TV programme.

After her three-week stint in prison, the hotel heiress told Newsweek: "Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties - it was fantasy.

"But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world."

A spokesperson for Hilton has not yet commented about the postponement.
