Remi Nicole has claimed that the tabloid press treats Amy Winehouse in an "evil" manner.
The singer-songwriter believes that Winehouse is the greatest artist of her generation and believes the media are hurting the star by pursuing her.
Talking about Winehouse's documented drug problems, Nicole told DS: "First of all, leave her alone.
"Second of all, if she's got a problem, why are you following her and making it worse. I think it's quite evil.
"At the same time, it's romanticising it, making people think it's funny or cool, and that's not a good thing."
Nicole, who will be supporting Winehouse on her winter tour, explained that she admired the singer for her honesty.
She commented: "At the end of day, Amy is the only one that lyrically, vocally, stands out of our generation.
"It's her blatant honesty. She's so honest. She knows how to write a good song...Plus she's got an incredible voice."
