Bass: 'Marriage claim was a joke'

Former 'N Sync star Lance Bass has dismissed his recent revelation that he married a girlfriend in Las Vegas as "a joke".

The openly gay singer had revealed that he wed a friend for "five minutes" in "1999 or 2000" in an attempt to get some free drinks for the evening.

He told E!: "The only reason we did it is because we wanted to get free drinks all night...and we didn't get one. We're like, 'we just got married,' and they're like, 'ah, whatever'."

However, his publicist Ken Sunshine admitted that the claims were false, commenting: "By saying he was married in Vegas, it was a way to get free drinks. He never really got married. That's why there's no record of it."
