George Osmond, father of Donny, Marie and Jimmy, has died at the age of 90.
The family patriarch passed away at his home in Utah on Tuesday, following a period of ill health.
George, a Mormon and former soldier, married wife Olive in 1944 and the couple had nine children, including sons Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay. The quartet, later joined by Donny and Jimmy, found fame in band The Osmond Brothers. Olive died three years ago at the age of 79.
Marie paid tribute to her parents on US reality show Dancing with the Stars earlier this week, dancing a quickstep based on the their 1940s romance. She told OK! magazine: “I told my dad to watch tonight and dedicated it to him. I did it for my parents."
Her brother Donny recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight about his father's illness, saying: "I walk in and he just lights up and he says: 'Donny...I love you.'... My 90-year-old dad... who can't do much, but when he says: 'I love you,' that's all he needs to do."
Jimmy, a contestant on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in 2005, said his father was in "good spirits" the day before his death, according to the family's spokesman.
The Osmonds had been lined up to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday.
