Heather Mills parted company with her divorce lawyers because she could no longer afford to pay for their services.

Negotiations with Heather's estranged husband Paul McCartney are believed to have reached a stalemate, causing her to rethink the hefty fees she has been paying to law firm Mishcon de Reya.

The former model has been forced to take out loans to pay for the £1.5million that legal representation has cost her.

Mills's spokeswoman Michele Elyzabeth told the Daily Mail: "It was agreed between them both that she would suspend her representation from the firm due to financial reasons and that she was perfectly capable of successfully representing herself in court, as she has done on a number of occasions regarding other matters."
