Langham sentence is reduced to 6 months

Actor Chris Langham has had his ten-month prison sentence for downloading child pornography reduced to six months today.

The Thick Of It star was sentenced in September at Maidstone Crown Court on 15 counts of downloading the images. But the Court of Appeal has reduced his jail time meaning he will be free in the New Year, after about half of his sentence has been served.

Langham denied the charges during his trial, claiming that he was not a paedophile, but he admitted to looking at the pictures as research for a paedophile character he was planning for a TV show.

He was arrested in 2005 after videos and images were found on his computer, laptop and hard disk drive, but the jury cleared him of having sex with a minor.

Last month an appeal to reduce Langham's sentence was rejected.
