Snoop Dogg has decided to sever ties with over half the members in his entourage who he thinks will get him into trouble.
The move is part of an attempt by the rapper to stay clean with the law in 2008 after he was banned from the UK in March due to his drug convictions. He was also stripped of a San Francisco honour because of his previous legal problems.
Snoop, real name Calvin Broadus, was also arrested at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California in September last year for having a collapsible baton with him. He pleaded no contest to felony drug and gun charges earlier this year.
Last month the hip-hop star was also sentenced to 160 hours of community service for illegally possessing a dangerous weapon.
As a result Snoop has decided to start over for 2008 and has begun by axing anyone in his posse that he considers to be troublemakers.
His sidekick Bishop Don Magic Juan told urban magazine Sister 2 Sister he is surrounding himself with reputable friends, saying: "He needs that support right now."
Bishop added: "It's been amazing because it's been a more peaceful thing for the champ."
