Paul Danan has been sacked from starring as the lead in a pantomime after he started swearing in front of 3,000 people while switching on Preston's Christmas lights.
The former Celebrity Love Island star was due to play Jack in the city's Jack and the Beanstalk show at the Charter Theatre, but the bosses are now looking for a replacement.
Hundreds of children were in the crowd when Danan made the outburst, according to the council, which labelled the incident "a disgrace".
Danan's spokesperson said that he apologised for "his use of highly inappropriate language" and said that he "deeply regretted his behaviour" on Wednesday night.
She added: "In his attempt to enthuse the crowd present, the words were blurted out without consideration. His intention was certainly not to cause any offence or upset to anyone."
The cast were due to start rehearsals on Monday but the council now says it is looking for someone to replace the actor.
Council leader Ken Hudson said: "His outburst was a disgrace and an insult to the people of Preston.
"Pantomime is all about family fun and entertainment and we want families to come to the pantomime and have a great time.
"We're now looking for a new actor to play Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk - someone who will wow the audience, but treat them with respect."
