Pete bans Babyshambles from alcohol

Babyshambles have been banned from drinking alcohol on their tour bus by lead singer Pete Doherty, it has been revealed.

Bassist for the group, Drew McConnell, confirmed that the frontman had asked for the ban himself in an attempt to help him keep clear of drink and drugs.

McConnell told NME: "He's insisted on it. I thought it was a joke at first but it's true - we're having to hide bottles of beer under our pillows! I think it's indicative of Peter's resolve to sort himself out."

When asked about Doherty's recent drug relapse, McConnell claimed he was "doing really well" and said: "We kind of want to thank everyone for their patience with him. We know what we're capable of as a band, and it's up to us to prove it on this tour. Hope springs eternal, y'know."
