Barton wants to produce her own movies

Mischa Barton wants to start producing films as well as acting in them because she is worried about the shortage of good roles available to her.

The St Trinians star wants to follow in the footsteps of actresses such as Drew Barrymore, who produced her own movie Never Been Kissed in 1999.

Barton said: "Producing is something I might see as a necessity because great female roles are difficult to come by.

"I admire a lot of women like Drew Barrymore who produce themselves and put together great projects."
