Kidman takes legal action over perfume claim

Nicole Kidman is taking legal action against The Daily Telegraph over allegations that the publication made about her favourite perfume.

An item which appeared in the newspaper's Spy gossip column on Wednesday claimed that Kidman had jeopardised her position as celebrity spokeswoman for Chanel No.5 - by revealing that Jo Malone's White Jasmine and Mint was her favourite scent.

The article stated that Nicole had been "dabbing it on whenever she had a moment" while in the UK to promote her new film The Golden Compass.

Kidman has now contacted media law firm Schillings about the matter. A statement from Schillings has insisted that the allegations were "entirely untrue" and "grossly defamatory".

"We have today been instructed to obtain an immediate retraction of such allegations and are taking separate action against the Daily Telegraph," the firm added.
