An investigation has been launched into Britney Spears' parenting after concerns were raised over "multiple child abuse and neglect" towards her two sons.
A 300-page court document released by Court Commissioner Scott Gordon revealed that the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) had concerns over the "safety and welfare" of the boys while they were in the care of their mother.
The investigation involved Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline as well but no details have been released regarding him.
The DCFS requested that the current visitation agreement between Federline and Spears should not be altered until it completes its investigation.
Federline currently has full physical custody of two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James, while Spears is allowed three monitored visits per week.
A separate court document was also filed by the singer asking that the details of their ongoing custody battle be kept private to avoid putting her children in danger.
She said: "Such information greatly increases the chances that the actions of the media could threaten the safety of the children by, for example, causing a traffic accident."
Spears has had a number of car-related problems after she was photographed driving with her eldest son on her lap in 2006 and was caught driving without a valid driver's licence earlier this year.
Both Spears and Federline are due back in court in January.
