Everett: 'Sexuality has hindered my career'

Rupert Everett believes that his homosexuality has prevented him from becoming a major Hollywood star.

The 48-year-old is convinced that he is just as good an actor as Hugh Grant and would be as successful as him if he were not gay.

He said: "It's not ideal to be homosexual in my business. For instance, I'm every bit as good as Hugh Grant, and I can do the same sort of thing, but look at the roles he gets.

"He's always working, and I work hardly ever."
