Farmers in the Philippines have urged Angelina Jolie to visit the country to raise awareness of the increase in refugees.
An action group wants the actress - a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) - to draw attention to the plight of people displaced by army attacks in the countryside.
Around two million Filipinos have been forced to flee their homes due to military operations and fighting between government soldiers and communist and Muslim rebels since the 1960s.
Willy Marbella, leader of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (Movement of Farmers in the Philippines), confirmed that he had sent a letter to the UNHCR, saying: "Since June 2005, we have been asking the chair of the UNHCR, Antonio Guterres, to look into this and send Angelina Jolie to see the real situation of internally displaced people in the country."
He added: "Hundreds of people are being forced out of their homes and farms every month."
Marbella said he was keen for Jolie to visit after her work in Darfur helped prevent the genocide of children and women affected by armed conflict in the African nation.
It is not yet known whether she will accept the invitation.
