The soul legend died yesterday at his home near San Diego, California, aged 76.
He married 18-year-old singer Anna Mae Bullock in 1958, launching a successful musical career alongside his wife after she changed her name to Tina. The pair went on to score several hit singles as Ike and Tina Turner, including 'River Deep Mountain High', 'Nutbush City Limits' and 'A Love Like Yours'.
However, their marriage was turbulent because of Ike's cocaine addiction and abusive behaviour and they divorced in 1976. The relationship was later chronicled in the 1993 movie What's Love Got To Do With It.
Tina's spokesperson said: "Tina is aware that Ike passed away. She has not had any contact with him in 35 years. No further comment will be made."
