'Sick' Spears spotted at LA hotel

Britney Spears has been spotted at an LA hotel hours after claiming that she was too ill to appear in court to be quizzed by her ex-husband's lawyers.

The singer failed to show up to give her deposition on Wednesday morning, when she was due to answer questions about her alleged substance abuse as part of the couple's custody battle over their two sons.

Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan said: "I was told of a general [medical] condition, and she felt she couldn't attend."

However, TMZ reported that she was photographed leaving the Four Seasons Hotel with her assistant just before 2am on Thursday morning.

A new date is believed to have been scheduled for Spears' deposition.
