The Hollywood star said that he believed America was ready for a change and that Obama is the man to provide the country with the best leadership.
Smith said: "I love Barack Obama. I love what he stands for. I think it's a beautiful time for America to make a statement of change to the world and to ourselves.
"My wife and I are supporting Barack."
However, Smith also revealed that he has no plans to get directly involved with politics himself, claiming that he has been misquoted on the subject in the past.
He added: "I have no desire to be President of the United States. That comes from when I spoke to someone and told them I could be the President if that's what I wanted to do.
"It's not that it's out of my grasp, it's that I don't want to [be the President]."
