The fake noses worn by Kevin Kline in the stage version of Cyrano de Bergerac are being sold for charity.

The actor has started asking audience members if they want to buy the appendages after each performance of his play in New York.

A spokeswoman for the production said a TV producer paid £700 for the nose, which was autographed by Kline and co-star Jennifer Garner. Another theatre-goer splashed out £800 the following night.

All proceeds from the sales are going to AIDS charity Broadway Cares.
