Man Utd star arrested over rape allegation

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans was arrested on Tuesday as part of investigations into an alleged rape.

The rising star, who also represents Northern Ireland internationally, was questioned by police after a 26-year-old woman claimed that she had been raped at Manchester's Great John Street Hotel in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Evans, 19, had been partying with squad colleagues including Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs at various locations around Manchester since lunchtime on Monday, according to reports.

He has been bailed until February 23.
