Spears' sons to be tested for marijuana

Britney Spears has requested that her two sons be tested for drugs because she believes her ex-husband Kevin Federline smokes marijuana around them.

The singer thinks that she can smell the drug in the two boys' hair after they have visited their father and she has asked for a court-appointed monitor to test two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James.

A drug addiction expert has claimed that if Spears takes strands of hair from the boys then they will be able to tell if they have been exposed to second-hand marijuana smoke within a couple of days.

A friend of Spears said: "Britney believes Kevin's been smoking pot in front of the kids. She says she can smell it in the boys' hair and on their clothes when she has her visitation with them."

Another source told US magazine: "She's asked the court-appointed monitor and her lawyers if they can prove the kids have been exposed to environments in which drugs have been taken."

It is thought that Federline could lose full physical custody of the children if the tests come back positive. But Spears needs to first get permission to use the drugs tests as evidence in court for the pair's ongoing custody battle.

Family lawyer Evan T Sussman said: "In most cases a California judge wouldn't order a hair test on a child unless there was evidence from a third party that the parents exposed the child to marijuana. Otherwise the judge would need consent from both parents."

A friend of the dancer also insisted that Federline would never smoke marijuana when his sons are present. The insider told Life & Style magazine: "Kevin smokes a lot of pot. But he never smokes around the kids."

No comment has yet been made from Federline's spokesperson.
