Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has revealed that he started boozing at the age of four.
The singer, who celebrates his 50th birthday tomorrow, said he swapped Ribena for alcohol when he was a young boy.
He told the Mirror: "I was actually four when I started drinking. I just remember that Ribena turned into stout and I developed an immediate love for it."
MacGowan insisted that he has no plans to quit, putting the fact that he has lived this long down to his party lifestyle.
He said: "To be honest I never thought to much about getting to 50. Smoking, drinking, partying - that's why I've stayed alive as long as I have. And I've got better with age. I party my way through life."
However, he added that he finally plans to deal with his lack of teeth over the next year, saying: "Emergency dentures to stop my face falling apart. I might get some dentures in and leave it at that, or I might get them done gradually."
