Parkinson, whose chat show ended this month after 36 years, was awarded a CBE in 2000 for his services to broadcasting. He will be confirmed for a knighthood on Saturday when the New Year Honours List is released.
Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing host Forsyth is expected to be given the honour in June as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours. Brucie - also a CBE - turns 80 in February.
Tess Daly, co-host on the BBC ballroom show, backed an internet campaign to make Brucie a Sir. "I cannot understand how a man who has been in showbiz for 60 years is not a Sir," she said. "It's about time."
