Kylie Minogue and Michael Parkinson are among the famous faces who have been recognised by the Queen in the New Year honours list.
Aussie pop star Kylie, 39, has said that she feels "deeply touched" after learning that she is receiving an OBE for services to music.
Meanwhile, Parkinson, who retired from his chat show after 36 years this month, has been given a knighthood by the Queen as expected.
Sports commentator Des Lynam has been given an OBE for services to sport, which he has described as "a splendid surprise", while actor Sir Ian McKellen has become a Companion of Honour for his services to drama and equality.
Other performers to be honoured include Julie Walters (CBE), Leslie Phillips (CBE) and Richard Griffiths (OBE).
BBC News presenter George Alagiah has also been given an OBE for services to journalism.
Newspaper reports suggest that Strictly Come Dancing host Bruce Forsyth will receive a knighthood in June as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours.
