Barlow: 'I couldn't stop spending'

ITV

Gary Barlow has admitted that he lost control of his spending when Take That split in 1996.

The singer said he threw away a fortune on needless luxuries when his solo career failed to take off.

He said: "You should have seen my house! It was this whole thing of, 'I'm absolutely massive now. I'm rich'.

"We had a huge house but I was forever extending it. It got out of hand in such a big way. Such a cliché.

"The fact that I had three houses just f**king full of gear and I'd look at my bank statements and it was just all these numbers. And I'd think, 'Well, it must be right because it's written down here'. I lost control of my life."

Barlow revealed that he had now sold his mansion and many of his belongings, saying: "I thought, 'We've got to get rid of all this'. And I've been on a mission these last few years, shedding possessions."
