Spears revealed that she is expecting a child with boyfriend Casey Aldridge last month during a magazine interview.
Nickelodeon released a statement following the news saying: "We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation.
"We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well-being."
A source told The Sun that TV bosses are considering whether to axe the show or not. An insider said: "Nickelodeon bosses are still undecided whether to air season four or not. For now it looks like it has been canned."
The final episode of the third series is being broadcast in the States tomorrow.
