Daniel Radcliffe has donated his glasses to an exhibition commemorating the victims of the Holocaust.

He has given his first-ever pair of spectacles to the Respectacles Project, which is creating a piece of artwork inspired by a famous Second World War picture of a mountain of broken glasses.

Other celebrities that have donated glasses include Stephen Fry, Paul O'Grady and Ronnie Corbett.

The art exhibition is part of the build-up to this year's National Holocaust Memorial Day.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool Paul Clark told the Daily Star: "It is a wonderful gesture by Daniel, particularly as he will help us reach the younger generations.

"The glasses will form part of a symbolic piece of artwork which will help people to learn how important it is to never forget the horrors of the Holocaust.

"This initiative is an opportunity for people to reflect on the past and issues such as racism, prejudice, violence and bullying."
