The body of Speight's partner and former co-presenter Natasha Collins was reportedly found in a bath.
Police attended the scene on Thursday and arrested the host of art show SMart at a residential address in St John's Wood, London.
The metropolitan police released a statement saying: "The woman, aged 31 years, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem will take place in due course - details to be confirmed.
"Officers from Marylebone CID are investigating. A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and was taken to Marylebone police station and was later bailed to return to another central London police station in early February pending further enquiries.
They added: "The death is being treated as unexplained".
Collins' agent Mark French told Sky News: "They always went everywhere together- they were just a really fun couple who were fantastic together."
He added: "This is a very tragic loss for us all."
