Sir Paul McCartney's heart problems were a "major source" of rows with estranged wife Heather Mills, reports have claimed.

The singer underwent a coronary angioplasty in secret last autumn after receiving two years of treatment following his diagnosis with a heart murmur in 2005.

However, it is believed that his health troubles may have contributed to his split from Mills in 2006 after she pushed him to improve his lifestyle.

A source told PageSix: "This was a major source of problems between him and Heather. He was receiving electrical shocks over the two years on his chest to help with his heart and was under strict instructions to stop drinking completely, which he didn't do. It's not a threatening condition, he just needs to take better care of himself.

"She focused on him first. He was abusing his body."

It was recently reported that Mills was furious when she saw McCartney 'flirting' with Kylie Minogue on Jools Holland's Annual Hootenanny.
