Lancaster, Stewart in meningitis scare

Penny Lancaster and Rod Stewart feared their son had meningitis and were forced to rush him to hospital after he developed a high fever.

Two-year-old Alistair was taken to a hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida to be diagnosed when his temperature rose to 102F.

He was allowed home on Sunday after doctors revealed he was suffering from a chest and ear infection.

A source told the Mirror: "Alastair was burning up inside and Rod and Penny were very concerned.

"They decided not to take any chances and rushed to hospital and were told to take him straight to the children's emergency room.

"Like any parent, they were worried it could be something like meningitis."

An onlooker told The Sun: "Rod looked very worried and Penny appeared tearful."

Alistair, who is Stewart's seventh child, is responding well to the antibiotics, according to reports.
