'Shameless' star unhappy at Windsor jibe

Shameless star Maxine Peake has revealed that she was not impressed at being compared to Barbara Windsor.

The actress, who plays Veronica in the Channel 4 show, said she regretted deciding to look up her name on internet search engine Google.

She said: "Some bloke said Anne-Marie Duff was the next Helen Mirren, while I was the slightly less talented version of Barbara Windsor.

"No disrespect to Barbara but after that I thought, 'Right, I won't be doing that anymore'."

Peake recently starred alongside Mark Addy in ITV's one-off comedy drama Bike Squad.
