Spears flees to Mexico with boyfriend

Britney Spears has fled to Mexico with paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.

The pair checked into a $240-a-night hotel near the US border with a group of friends on Wednesday afternoon.

Reports had claimed that the singer was intending to fly to New York to escape her mother, but she instead headed for the border wearing a pink wig.

She later accompanied Ghalib on a $60 shopping trip, picking up two bags while he bought a rosary.

A sales assistant told local newspaper El Vigia: “She looked serious and haggard. She didn’t have make-up on.”

One insider said of the holiday: "This is all about them playing games with her fans to get exclusive pictures. She has lost contact with her two sons and her family is so scared for her mental health they fear she’s a suicide risk and she’s out flying or driving around the world playing games.

“It’s just beyond belief.”

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that she may be planning to fly on to Buenos Aires, Argentina in the next few days.

An ex-girlfriend recently described 35-year-old Ghalib as "sex-mad".
