Depp: "I'm a big fan of revenge"

Johnny Depp has revealed that he is a "big fan of revenge".

The actor said retribution was a major theme of Tim Burton's musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, in which he plays the title role.

The movie sees Benjamin Barker seek vengeance after returning home from years of false imprisonment to find his wife dead and his daughter in the hands of an evil judge.

Depp said: "This is a story about a man who [wants] to avenge the horror that happened to him. [Revenge] is a thing that most people don't want to admit to but we all have it secretly in there. I'm a big fan of revenge."

However, he refused to be drawn on any examples from his own life, saying: "I don't want to incriminate myself."

Depp has denied modelling his performance on David Bowie in the film, in which he sings onscreen for the first time.
