Judge blasts OJ Simpson for bail breach

A judge has slammed OJ Simpson for "arrogance or ignorance" after he breached his bail conditions.

Simpson is awaiting trial for allegedly organising an armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel.

However, the former American football star was arrested by police in Florida on Friday after he violated his bail terms.

Simpson had left an answer phone message with his bail bondsman in November mentioning co-defendant Clarence Stewart

The ex-sports star is banned from contacting fellow defendants and witnesses under the bail conditions he was given last September.

Clark County Judge Jackie Glass told Simpson: "I don't know, Mr Simpson, what the heck you were thinking. Or maybe that's the problem - you weren't.

"I don't know if it's just arrogance. I don't know if it's ignorance. But you've been locked up at the Clark County Detention Centre since Friday because of arrogance or ignorance - or both."

After Glass doubled his bail to $250,000 (£125,000), Simpson walked out of the court and drove off in a white Mercedes.
