The singer was alleged to have dumped the Birmingham-born paparazzo over the weekend after accusing him of tipping off his agency about their whereabouts in a bid to sell exclusive photos.
Her friend Sam Lutfi was reported to have allowed two photographers to see legal papers relating to the order, one of whom recalled: "Britney asked us to leave the cameras in the car, and she poured some champagne for us. She was very sweet.
"Sam was telling us to not worry about Adnan because they have filed a restraining order against him."
However, both the Los Angeles Sheriff's department and Ghalib himself denied knowledge of any legal action.
Ghalib said in a statement: "All I can say is that I have not been in contact with Britney since early Friday morning.
"The reason being that I have had to attend a family funeral in Santa Barbara. My phone has been off during this time out of respect for my family. I am only now becoming aware of what is being said. I hope to be back home in Los Angeles soon and to be in contact with Miss Spears."
A newspaper report recently accused him of scheming to win the popstar's heart for the past 18 months.
