John Travolta hits out at Cruise's critics

John Travolta has claimed that the recent criticism directed towards Tom Cruise and his religious beliefs has been "unfair".

The actor spoke out after Cruise was the subject of ridicule last week over a leaked video which showed him discussing his devotion to the Church of Scientology.

"[Tom] has – we all have – the right to practice how we feel," Travolta, who is also a Scientologist, told People.com at the weekend. "It finally becomes unfair."

Cruise's film-making partner Paula Wagner recently complained about the "vitriol" that has been directed at the actor.

A second video has since been leaked, showing Cruise describing psychiatry as a "crime against humanity".
