Tim Burton 'acts crazy' to avoid fans

Tim Burton has revealed that he pretends to be "crazy" to avoid being bothered by fans in the street.

The director said he is uncomfortable with constant attention and has developed ways of making sure he is left alone.

He said: "Appearing to be crazy is a good thing. If you're walking down the street talking to yourself people tend to give you a wide berth!

"But I've always been blessed with being easily ignored or avoided. I think maybe it's because people think I look a little crazy."

Burton recently admitted that he is finally thinking about marrying long-term girlfriend Helena Bonham Carter, with whom he has two children.

His new movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is released across the UK on Friday.
