Heath Ledger made his big screen debut in the Australian drama Blackrock in 1999. However, it was 10 Things I Hate About You, which brought him to the attention of mainstream audiences.

Since then he spanned genres, starring alongside Mel Gibson in action blockbuster The Patriot, leading family adventure A Knight's Tale, and appearing alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in Ang Lee's groundbreaking love story Brokeback Mountain.

Ledger had just finished work on The Dark Knight, in which he makes a much-anticipated performance as The Joker.
