Renfro 'spent time with secret son'

Brad Renfro spent time with his secret son before his sudden death last week, it has been revealed.

The former child star had kept the boy's existence under wraps, but the matter was mentioned at his funeral on Monday.

Renfro was found dead in his LA home on January 15 by his girlfriend.

His family have refused to reveal the boy's name or age to protect his privacy, although it is understood that he lives with his mum in Japan.

Renfro's stepmother Kim told TMZ: "We did expect this [level of media attention] because people didn't know he had a son. But we're very thankful he got to see his son before he died."

600 people attended the 25-year-old's funeral in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee.

His great-uncle Michael Earl led the eulogy, saying: "Brad had problems just like I have problems, just like you have problems, just like all of us have trials and tribulations that we go through. Was Brad perfect? Well, I can tell you I'm not. Are you?"

He added: "He lived life, and he enjoyed it. Whatever he did, he did it hard as he could... If he messed up, he'd go after it 100%."
