Clooney: 'Paparazzi are like bounty hunters'

George Clooney has criticised the paparazzi for driving recklessly in a bid to photograph celebrities.

The actor said snappers now behave like "bounty hunters" because they are rewarded for pursuing stars to get exclusive pictures.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "What they're doing is illegal. It's high-speed chases and they're competing with each other. It's getting to a point where people that are not involved are getting hurt."

He added: "You look at the footage of Britney [Spears] running the red light. There's eight guys with cameras at night in the middle of the street. There are no rules now."

Clooney recently pulled over and scolded paparazzi who were trying to photograph him riding his motorbike with girlfriend Sarah Larson in LA.

The 46-year-old said: "They're not trying to catch me doing something stupid; they're trying to create me doing something stupid. You don't get to break all these laws and then say, 'I'm just doing my job'.

"The guys that commit all these crimes are rewarded for it. It creates bounty hunters in a way."

He claimed that he was not seeking to "restrict anyone's rights", telling paparazzi: "Take your pictures but don't go 60 down a one-way street."
