'Pop Idol' Darius lands West End role

Pop Idol's Darius Danesh has landed a role in a musical production of Gone With The Wind at the New London Theatre.

Danesh, who will play Rhett Butler, will star alongside Jill Paice, Madeleine Worrall and Edward Baker-Duly.

The show opens on April 22 and is currently taking bookings until September 27.

Danesh first found fame on Popstars, before reappearing on reality TV in Pop Idol in 2001.

He has scored five top 10 singles and reached number one with his debut 'Colourblind', which kept Coldplay's 'In My Place' off the top spot.

The singer's last album was 2004's Live Twice.
