Jodie Foster refuses son acting break

Jodie Foster has said that she won't help her son break into acting because he only chose the career for fame.

She revealed that her eldest son Charles has asked whether she could help him get a role onscreen, but she has insisted that he must progress through the proper channels and attend theatre school instead.

She is quoted as saying: "The older one asks me at times if he can appear in a film or on television. I warn him that I'm not going to find him work. He can do theatre after school, if he wants.

"Obviously, he's completely uninterested in theatre. What he wants is to appear on TV. I don't believe that he really wants to be an actor."

Foster began her acting career aged three as the face of an advertising campaign for sun tan lotion company Coppertone.
