'Juno' actress not interested in stardom

Juno star Ellen Page has insisted that she is not interested in being a celebrity.

The Canadian actress, who is nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in the teen pregnancy comedy, said she wants to avoid the Hollywood lifestyle.

She told MSN: "I don't want that. I think if you want it and you want to live that way, you can. And you can also choose to totally not live that way. I'm from Nova Scotia. I don't know, it's just not me. And I think you can avoid it.

"I'm [acting] because I feel really passionate. If I wanted to be in LA and do that thing, I could do that. But Halifax is my homebase."

The 20-year-old added that she finds the acclaim she has received for the role "surreal", saying: "I just wanted to play this character so badly, and to be sitting here and knowing that it's actually happened is very bizarre... I feel so grateful, it's ridiculous. I don't really know what's going on.

"I love acting, and to be able to do what I love to do and make money at the age of 20 is absurd. I feel so lucky sometimes."
