Javier Bardem was depressed by his haircut in No Country For Old Men, his co-star has revealed.

The Spanish actor's hair was moulded into a long bowl cut for his role as assassin Anton Chigurh in the Coen brothers' film.

According to Josh Brolin, Bardem was so mortified by his new look that he did not want to be seen while shooting the movie.

He said: "[Javier] was depressed during the process... He felt like he wouldn't have sex for three months. Full-blown depression. I mean, bad.

“[He] didn't like the way he looked. He'd stay home for hours on end. He wouldn't go out."

Bardem is hotly tipped to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar later this month.
